PAPUA - The Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) Operational Command HABEMA made an impactful gesture that resonated deeply within the Frambu Village of Maybrat Regency, Southwest Papua Province. The Task Forces of the Para Raider Infantry Battalion 501/Bajra Yudha Kostrad, led by Second Lieutenant Puji Handoko, turned a routine security patrol into a lifesaving mission. On Sunday, December 1, 2024.
While securing Frambu Village in the Aifat Timur Tengah District, the patrol team encountered a dire situation. A local resident, Roni Fatemyo, had suffered injuries from a wild boar attack and was confined to his home due to illness. With swift coordination, the team’s dedicated medic stepped in, providing immediate medical treatment and supplying medication to ensure Roni’s recovery over the coming days.
This compassionate act aligns closely with the directives of Lieutenant Colonel Yakhya Wisnu Arianto, Commander of the 501 Task Forces, emphasizing that securing Papua involves more than just operational duties—it’s about addressing the fundamental needs of the community. Reflecting on the incident, Roni expressed heartfelt gratitude, stating, “Thank you, Commander 501. I am feeling better now.”
Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, Commanding General of HABEMA, lauded the team’s actions, highlighting their alignment with TNI’s core values: "The 501 Task Forces' initiative showcases TNI's dedication to serving the community, particularly in delivering critical health services. This approach is integral to accelerating development in Papua."
The humanitarian efforts of the 501 Task Forces underscore TNI's commitment to a responsive, integrative, and modern approach in bridging gaps between security missions and community well-being. Such initiatives reaffirm the Armed Forces’ role as protectors and partners in progress for the people of Papua.
