Free Health Treatment by Habema Task Force Brings Relief and Smiles to Kemali Village

Nduga - In a remarkable demonstration of their commitment to the community, the Task Forces of the Para Raider Infantry Battalion 503/Mayangkara Kostrad, under the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA, continue to make a profound impact on the lives of local residents in Nduga Regency, Papua Pegunungan Province. On Wednesday, November 13, 2024, the 503 Task Forces, led by First Lieutenant Febri from the Quary Bawah Post, conducted a “Free Health Treatment” program for the people of Kemali Village, Kenyam District, a much-needed effort in a region where healthcare access remains limited.

This initiative is a testament to the Task Forces' unwavering dedication to addressing the fundamental needs of the people they serve. Lieutenant Colonel Gurbasa Samosir, Commander of the 503 Task Forces, emphasized the importance of not only securing the region but also providing essential services that improve the well-being of local communities. “Our mission goes beyond security; we are here to support the people in their most basic needs, including healthcare, ” he stated.

The event took place as part of the soldiers' routine duties along the border between Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. The soldiers were quick to respond when Rina Kogoya, a local resident, sought help for her sore eyes. The Quary Bawah Post’s medical team promptly examined her and provided the necessary treatment. The soldiers also gave Rina a supply of free medicine for her recovery. This gesture of care was not only about treating an individual but also about fostering strong ties between the soldiers and the local community. The interaction allowed the soldiers to better understand the security situation in Kemali Village while bringing smiles to the faces of the residents.

Rina, visibly relieved and grateful, expressed her heartfelt thanks, saying, “Thank you, Commander 503. I feel much better now. God bless you all.” Her words capture the relief and joy brought about by the Task Forces' efforts, which made a significant difference in her life.

The initiative has also been recognized by Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, the HABEMA Commanding General, who praised the 503 Task Forces for their ongoing contributions to the health and well-being of the people of Papua. "This initiative showcases the true commitment of TNI in supporting the development of Papua, particularly by addressing healthcare challenges that affect local communities, " he said.

The Task Forces’ actions underscore the positive role that the Indonesian military plays in the development of Papua, not only through security measures but also through social initiatives that improve the quality of life for local residents. Their efforts are a reminder that security and community welfare go hand in hand, and that the bond between soldiers and the people they serve is built on trust, compassion, and mutual respect.
